Rev’d Brian Jeffries

Recognising a call to ministry in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Uluru (Ayers Rock) and beyond in the very heart of Australia, Brian appreciated that the congregation, “wanted a great heart to minister to the heart of a great nation.”  Knowing that the greatest heart of all is God’s and confidant  that God has a plan for him and for the Parish Alice Springs/ Tennant Creek, Brian was commissioned as Rector on January 31st   2014 by Bishop Clyde Wood. Brian was previously Head of Special Education at Cairns State High after working as consultant in the Cape York communities of Aurukun and Kowanyama. He taught at Doomadgee State School where he met his wife Heather. Ordained priest in 2003 by Bishop Garry Weatherill, he has served in the Diocese of Willochra at Port Augusta and Quorn.  For the past eight years Brian has been parish priest in the Ceduna parish on the far west coast of South Australia and became Archdeacon of Eyre.  Brian appreciates it is our faith and relationship in Jesus Christ which is the source of life and our greatest resource and is privileged to now serve in central Australia.


Rev’d Hiley Diweula
Assistant Priest

Fr Hiley was ordained as a priest in Papua New Guinea and came to Australia as a Missionary with his wife Rita and their two daughters and worked as a house parent at St Mary’s.   He now works full time with disabled and mentally handicapped people through Bindi. In his ‘spare time’ he is involved in Christian ministry taking bread to the town camps in evenings during the week, offering prayer and praise to the Renal Hostel (next to the church) midweek, taking communion to the housebound after church on Sundays and visiting White Gates town camp for communion or evening prayer on Sundays, and is part of the Prison ministry team.

Management of the Parish

Worship and ministry of the parish is managed by the Ministry Team, Wardens and Parish Council which is elected annually and meets monthly.
